Last week I went to see a sand mandala at UNI: http://www.uni.edu/mandala/. It was really beautiful.

I really thought “accountability” would show up more…

Wordle: Obama February 24 2009 Speech

I’ve been going to a certain recreation/exercise place for about 3 years now, and about once a month I see this man who is completely, dripping, sweaty just sitting on a bench or getting a drink, but I have never seen him exercise! Never! It’s very strange, that’s all. Sometimes I wonder if he just douses himself with water and sits around so people think he’s a crazy exerciser. Strange.

So many things I think are the correct and right way of doing things are actually just preferences.  I have been learning that F. and I value things differently.  I value productivity, efficiency, and task completion.  My husband (F) values fun, relationships, and…fun.

Take this example: two weekends, two different perceptions.  Let’s say Weekend A is filled with visiting friends, maybe going to a party, and enjoying the company of family…but the laundry doesn’t get folded and maybe the dishes never get completely done.  This is a highly successful weekend for F, and a near total failure for me!  Because I value productivity, and he values fun and relationships.

I don’t think either one is wrong…but it feels wrong when you have been thinking one way for such a long time…. :)

1999-2009

Born in a Honda Factory in Canada, Espinaca Rica (Tasty Spinach) had two owners in his short life.  The first, a teacher who drove him faithfully to work for 8 years.  The last two years Espinaca has been with me, and then with my husband and I the last six months.

Espinaca died a quick but tragic death at the hands of an un-insured driver on January 15, 2009.

My favorite things about Espinaca were his CD player, the magic button we could use to open his doors (though you often had to press the button more than 5 times), and his vibrant green color.

He will be remembered fondly.

Who knew?  Sticky tape is a source of X-rays: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7686530.stm
